A visual alternative to a name list
Some choices are easier to recognise as pictures than words. A picture picker can work well for young children, visual classroom prompts, craft references, meal photos, activity cards or any set of options that is already stored as images.
What happens to the files?
The page reads the selected images inside your browser so it can display previews and choose one. This tool does not require an account and its JavaScript does not intentionally upload those selected files to a server. Reloading or leaving the page clears the current selection.
Avoid using sensitive images on a shared or public device, and follow your organisation's privacy rules for photographs of children or other people.
Ways to use a picture picker
- Choose between photos of several craft ideas.
- Let a child pick from visual activity cards without needing to read each option.
- Select a reference image for a drawing warm-up.
- Choose one of several meal photos when deciding what to make.
- Pick a flashcard image for an informal learning game.
Keep the set manageable
Large high-resolution images can use a lot of device memory because the browser has to hold previews during the session. For a quick choice, a small set of ordinary phone photos or compressed images works best. If the page becomes sluggish, clear the pictures and select fewer or smaller files.
Random selection is only the final step
Make sure every image in the pool is genuinely acceptable before pressing pick. If some activities are unsuitable because of time, weather, cost or safety, remove those images first. The picker cannot evaluate the content of the photographs.
